Client Background & Visit Purpose

Sam, a client from Seattle, USA, is planning to build a three-story container house for his family. He has been actively involved in the design process himself and has worked closely with a professional designer to complete the overall layout of the project.
He comes from a multicultural family background, with his wife originally from Korea and two children. The family requirements for the house are therefore quite specific, especially in terms of space planning and long-term living comfort.
The main purpose of this visit was twofold: first, to further discuss the technical specifications of the project, as several structural modifications have been made to the original container design and require detailed confirmation; second, to visit our factory and better understand our production capability and manufacturing process.
Customization Discussion
On the first day of his arrival in Weifang, I picked up Sam from his hotel in the morning and brought him directly to our factory for an in-depth technical discussion. He arrived with detailed drawings and digital files of the project.
During the meeting, we first clarified the scope of work and responsibilities on both sides, including which parts would be handled by us, such as structural work, water and electrical systems, and fire safety-related components. Considering potential local inspection and approval requirements, we also suggested that he coordinate with his local construction team to confirm whether certain building materials should be purchased directly from China to ensure compliance and consistency.
We then went through the specific structural modifications he had made to the original design, discussing the adjusted positions and technical feasibility in detail.
At the same time, Sam also shared his expectations for the project and his vision for the house as a long-term family residence, which helped us better understand the overall direction of the design.
Finally, we reviewed several additional adjustment points together to ensure the structure and details could fully meet both functional and practical requirements.

Factory Visit and Production Review
During his visit, Sam toured our showroom to gain a broader understanding of our container housing solutions. He reviewed different product types, construction methods, and customization options, which provided useful context for his own project.
He then visited our production facilities to observe the manufacturing process firsthand. From steel fabrication and welding to assembly and finishing, he was able to see how each stage is handled in practice. This gave him a clearer understanding of our quality control standards, production workflow, and ability to manage highly customized projects.

Conclusion & Next Step

Overall, the communication throughout the visit was smooth and efficient, and all key topics were well covered. Sam will move forward with the next stage of the project after returning to the U.S. and organizing the relevant materials.
During the visit, he also shared some chocolate he brought from Seattle, which had a light sea salt flavor and was quite memorable. In return, I showed him around Weifang's famous kites and prepared a small souvenir for him as a keepsake.
There was a small unexpected situation during his trip - his flight to Dalian was canceled due to rain while he was planning to visit a friend. We quickly adjusted the plan and arranged an alternative route for him to fly from Qingdao instead, which worked out smoothly.
Overall, the visit not only helped move the project forward, but also made the whole trip more personal and enjoyable for both side
This visit not only moved the project forward, but also strengthened our relationship. We are now not only business partners, but also good friends.
